January 2013 Newsletter

First of all a belated Happy New Year to all our members!
Preparations have started for our visit to France from 22nd-26th August this year. Fundraising for this trip continues to be of the utmost importance – please make a note in your diaries of all upcoming events and do your best to support them!
We have made enquiries about alternative forms of transportation, but the coach still remains the most economical means of travel IF people use it, rather than making their own travel arrangements. It is anticipated that we will charge £150 per adult approximately. The French are already making plans for our visit, including a trip to the lovely town of Bourges and would appreciate information about which English families are hoping to take part this year. Please fill in the tear off slip at the bottom of this newsletter, and return it to Rowland Robson OR email Anita Hufton (a.m.hufton@ntlworld.com) to inform them of your intentions asap.
Forthcoming Fundraising Activities:
Tickets are on sale for our next fundraiser, the annual quiz on Sunday 3rd February at the Royal Oak Great Ayton, starting at 7.30pm. If you have not yet ordered your tickets (priced at £6), please phone Rowland on 710186 by 17th Jan, who also needs to know if anyone would like the vegetarian alternative to the pie and pea supper. Once again, we kindly ask for teams to be kept to the MAXIMUM of 6. If you are under quota and would welcome extras on your team please bring this to the attention of any committee member.
Wednesday 17th April – A French film evening at Prior Pursglove College. Starting at 6.30pm, we shall be showing les Choristes. This event is open to the public and whilst we are not allowed to charge for this event, we would welcome donations. Simply turn up and follow the directions to the film theatre.
Friday 10th May – Another cake stall in Great Ayton High Street in the archway near the shops, 9.30-10.30 am. Please bake for this fundraiser and/or come along to buy something.
Please feel welcome to bring along any friends and family to any of the above events and help us to promote the twinning. We need to get new people involved, in order to ensure a healthy future for the organisation.
Our new chairperson, John Nicholas, is in the process of getting a website up and running. Please could members email to him any photographs they have of the past two-three trips, which they would be happy about being featured on the website: john.r.nicholas@ntlworld.com
DON’T FORGET TO CHECK OUT OUR FACEBOOK PAGE for details of forthcoming events and photos of our trips. Be sure to ‘LIKE’ us if you pay a visit.
